Opening day didn't turn out quite as planned. Although the weather was beautiful and the sun was shinning, the Wings just could not get their bats to wake up. Athough they threatened a few times with runners in scoring position, they just couldn't break through in the runs column.
Starting pitcher Brandon Mendola took the loss despite throwing a complete game on only 97 pitches. The River Bats broke through in the top of the sixth inning scoring two unearned runs. Their rally was cut short by a spectacular throw by Center Filelder Ray Ciancagilini and tag at home by Catcher Russ Madison.
The next game is scheduled at home on Friday at 7:00 against the Wayne County Raptors, come on out and support your team.
