Wings drop one to Watertown, hang on desperately to playoff hopes ...July 25th, 2006

... The Wings droped last evening's game to Watertown 8-3 in front of about 250 people, including the newly formed "Brew Crew" which is gaining quite a following. The Wings fell behind early 5-0 and could never regain the momentum in the game. Brandon Young (North Greenville) came in in relief in the third and proceeded to shut down the Wizards for 5 innings. The Wings struck for 2 in the sixth and had chances throughout the night to do some damage, but the damage never came. Nick Stewart (Francis Marion) hit an opposite field home run in the 8th innning. That dinger brings his total for the season to 7 and breaks the Geneva Red Wings single season homerun record. Congratulations Nick!

...Update: In the 4-0 victory vs. Genesee Valley on Sunday Jeremy Kerht (Southern Indiana) pitched a complete game 3 hit shutout while striking out 10 in the process. Jeremy was named to the NYCBL Pitcher of The Week Honorable Mention for this performance. Tim Alberts (Niagara) was also named to the League's Player of The Week Honrable Mention after hitting .381 (8-21) with 5 RBI's and a SB on the week. Congratulations guys!

... The Wings travel to Watertown tonight, but return home for the last three games of the season Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. First pitch each night is at 7:30
