'Bats strike early, Wings come back for win... Post Date June 19th, 2007

...Brockport got to the Wings staff early, scoring two runs in the top of the second inning, but Tom Schiller (Monroe CC) was able ring up a strike out to end the threat as the 'Bats loaded the bases with two out. The Wings then responded in the bottom of the second when they rallied with three hits and took advantage of a few 'Bats miscues. Shawn Summers (Francis Marion) drove in both Nick Spears (Texas Pan Am) who reached on a wild pitch strikeout, and Chris Vargo (University of Richmond) who reached on a single. The third run scored after Andrew Damewood (University of Texas @ Tyler) singled to left field, and drove in Nick Spisek (Westchester) who reached after being hit by a pitch. The Wings would extend their lead in the bottom of the 6th after Summers started the inning with a lead off triple, Brett Burch (Oral Roberts) would follow with a seeing eye single to left driving him home. Knuckleballer Ed Paul (Francis Marion) pitched 3 innings of middle relief allowing one hit and striking out four while Kyle Bellamy (University of Miami, FL) closed the door in the ninth earning his second save.

...The Wings travel to Niagara Falls today, and Brockport tomorrow. They will return home to host the Webster Yankees on Thursday, first pitch is 7:30, and since it's a Thursday, it is a Little League Night, all Little Leaguers wearing their jersey will get into the park free!
