Big rally sparks win... Post Date June 22nd, 2007
... The Wings struggles with the bats continued last night but the rally came early enough to salvage the win. Ashton Mowdy (Eastern Oklahoma) pitched 3 2/3 innnings of stellar relief for the win. Mowdy came in and shut down the Yankees allowing 2 hits and stiking out 4, after the Yanks had rallied for 5 runs in the early innnigs, taking a 5-1 lead. The Wings bats were silent for 6 innings, that was, until the 7th inning rally. The rally started with a two run triple for Brock Miller (Gardner-Webb) down the right field line over the head of the right fielder. Then Andrew Damewood (university of Texas @ Tyler) picked up Miller in on a fielder's choice to get the Wings within one. Nick Spears (University of Texas Pan Am) followed with a two out single. The big hit, a two out, two run home run by Julio Gomez (Coker College) sealed the deal, giving the Wings a 6-5 lead. Paul Bertuccini (LSU) pitched the eighth striking out one and facing the minimum 3 batters, and then Kyle Belamy (University of Miami, Fl) held the ninth striking out two of the three batters he faced earning his third save of the season.
