Early errors doom Wings ... Post Date June 16th, 2007

.... Jason Bowman (Westchester) pitched lights out for 8 full innings last night giving up 1 earned run, walking one, allowing 3 hits and striking out 6. You would think that would mean the Wings came away with another win...you would at least figure it as a safe bet anyway. The Wings comitted two early errors which lead to 2 unearned runs. The errors put the Wings behind 3-0 after three innings. Once the sun went down the rally again started. In the bottom of the sixth the Wings loaded the bases with two out. Brendan Stokes (Northeastern) lined a shot which almost made the gap in left center, scoring two runs. The score remained 3-2 until the bottom of the ninth. The Wings again were poised for their patented walk off win. Julio Gomez (Coker College) and Brett Burch (Oral Roberts) both drew walks with two outs in the inning, but the tying run was ultimately left stranded on second base. Andrew Damewood (University of Texas @ Tyler) went 2-4 with a triple and a single, and Stokes also went 2-4 adding another single to his 2 RBI single in the sixth. Brett Burch added the only other hit for the Wings as he went 1-3. The most telling stat of the night: the Power left 2 on base while the Wings left 7.

...The Wings host the Brockport Riverbats tonight at 7:30, it is also K101.7 night at the park. Come on out and support your Wings, you can be sure they will fight to the last out!
