Wings go back-to-back-to-back to win!.... Post Date June 14th, 2007

...The Wings traveled to Brockport for an early evening start today against the Riverbats. Following last evening's marathon you would understand if the boys came out a little slow, but that would never happen with this team! Following a first inning run plated by the home team, Andrew Damewood (University of Texas @ Tyler) knotted the score in the top of the second with a solo shot to left field. The 'Bats would come back again in the bottom of the third and jump ahead 3-1. That's when the fireworks started. With one out in the 4th, Brendan Stokes (Northeastern), Julio Gomez (Coker College), and Ryan Hypke (Francis Marion) went back-to-back-to-back with balls over the left field wall to give the wings a 4-3 lead they would never relinquish. Dusty Odenbach (Connecticut) earned the win, pitching 6 full innings while giving up 3 earned runs on 2 hits. With the bullpen pretty much decimated from the marathon yesterday, three pitchers combined to hold the lead for the last three innings. Ed Paul (Francis Marion), Dan Bennett (Florida Southern), and Kyle Bellamy (U of Miami), each pitched one full inning in relief to shut the door on the 'Bats, with Bellamy earning his first save of the season. The Wings improve their record to 5-2 and hold first place in the West.

...The Wings are home tomorrow (Friday) night hosting the Niagara Falls Power at 7:30. On Saturday the team hosts the same Riverbats, with the first pitch also at 7:30. Come on out and see your first place Wings this weekend!
