Wings lose lightning shortened game..... Post Date June 12th, 2007
... The Wings really can't catch a break with the weather lately, seems the ol' NY pop up thunderstorms have been following the Wings around the Empire State. Tonight in Elmira the game started out with beautiful weather, but by the fifth the skies darkened and the lightning came. After the rain, the field was still playable, but the lightning would not leave the area, therefore the game was called after five innings. The Wings lost 1-0 , despite getting a runner on first with no out in the top of the sixth. Ed Paul (Fancis Marion) pitched five spectacular innings giving up two hits, and the only run which scored was unearned due to an error in the bottom of the second. The Wings had their chances a few times with men on an no out, but failed to plate a run.
... The Wings face off against the Hornell Dodgers tomorrow in a doubleheader, first game starts at 5:00 and the second game follows 30 minutes after the last out of the first game.
