Four-in one update, Wings take 3 of 4 on weekend.... Post Date June 23rd, 2007
...Busy weekend, sorry fo the late updates, but here is your weekend wrapup in abbreviated format.
...Friday: The Wings were able to shut down the A's on 4 hits on the night. Jason Bowman (Westchester) pitched 7 stong innings for the win. There still is no game report filed by the A's so there are no further details, sorry!
...Saturday, WINGS POUND ON A'S IN SIXTH: The Wings trailed the same Bolivar A's 4-0 going into the 6th inning, as Jordan Purington (Stony Brook) pitched a good game but four errors put him the hole early. However, the Wings came alive in the bottom of the sixth scoring 9 runs. The highlight of the inning was a three run triple by Julio Gomez (Coker College) to tie the game. Nick Spears (University of Texas Pan AM) added another two run triple toward the end of the inning to finish the scoring. The Wings added 4 more runs in the later innings as Gomez hit his team leading 3rd home run in the eighth, a two run shot rounding out the scoring for the night at 13 runs. Purington earned the win as the Wings redeemed him in the bottom of the sixth.
...Sunday, THE MILLER AND DAMEWOOD SHOW: Non-traditional DH in Hornell at 1:00 and Allegany at 7:00, nine innings each. At Hornell, the wings jumped up early as Brock Miller (Gardner-Webb) scored from third on the ensuing throw to second when Andrew Damewood (University of Texas @ Tyler) stole second. Damewood also picked up an RBI single in the third and also in the fifth. The Wings lead would be 3-0 until the sixth when the Dodgers would tie it at 3-3. Taking advatage of some Dodger mishps in the ninth, Miller and Damewood would score the go ahead and winning runs in the top of the ninth. Kyle Bellamy (Miami) would earn his fifth save on the season for the 5-3 win.
...Sunday, ERRORS AGAIN A PROBLEM FOR WINGS: In Aleagany for the night cap, the Wings would stay close throughout the game, despite comitting five errors. The early game was perfect defensively, but not his one. The Wings dropped the night cap 7-4. Damewood would go 2-4 with an RBI, and new arrival, second baseman Chris Parkinson showed some stick going 3-4 with two RBI.
...The Wings have an off day Monday, but travel to Webster on Tuesday, and Niagara Falls on Wednesday. The Wings then return home for a three day homestand beginning Thursday against the Allegany Couty Nitros, game time is 7:30. �
