No game tonight but Wings can still clinch playoff berth... Post date July 24th, 2007

...The Wings were off yesterday and will be off today, but that doesn't mean the playoff picture will remain the same. Allegany and Niagara Falls faced off last night and with the Allegany 6-1 win, the Nitros pulled into tie for first with Elmira. Both teams have clinched a playoff spot. The Wings remain within striking distance of first place as they are 1.5 games back of both Elmira and Allegany, while Hornell sits 1.5 games behind the Wings currently in the last playoff spot. There are two other teams attempting to make their way into the playoffs. Brockport and Niagara Falls are still alive, but are on life support. The Wings are in good shape to make the post season, they will clinch the berth with either one more win, or one more Brockport loss. However, Brockport stays alive for the fourth playoff spot, and will battle with Hornell. Brockport's elmination number with Hornell is 5, which means they are elminated on any combination of Hornell wins or Brockport losses that add up to 5. Niagara Falls has an even slimmer chance to make the post season since the only team they can catch at this point is Hornell, their elimination number is 1, they are eliminated with any comination of one Hornell win or one Niagara Falls loss. With five days left in the regular season alot can happen! Stay tuned!

There are two games on the docket tonight that have an influence on the playoff picture: Bolivar @ Brockport and Hornell @ Webster. If Brockport loses this evening, the Wings clinch a playoff berth.
