Playoff Update....Post date July 25th, 2007

...The Wings were again idle last evening, however, two games were played that impacted the playoff race in the NYCBL West division. The first game of interest, Brockport played host to Bolivar. A Brockport loss would have sealed the deal for the Wings, but the Riverbats squeeked out a 1-0 victory. So, the Wings stay in the same position: any combination of one Wings win or one Brockport loss clinches a playoff berth. The Wings will not be able to pick up any ground tonight on first place since Elmira and Allegany play each other and they are both tied for first. Although the Wings will miss any opportunity to gain on first, this situation does have an interesting twist. Regardless of who wins that game, if the Wings can win tonight, they pick up a full game on the losers and will be only .5 game out of second. The Brockport win last night also made for interesting baseball in the fourth place race. Hornell lost to Webster 9-3 which now puts Brockport within 1.5 games of Hornell, which holds the last playoff spot, with four games to play. Brockport's elimination number remains at 5 for the final playoff spot: any combination of Brockport losses or Hornell wins which equal 5 eliminates the Riverbats. Boy, is this getting good or what!!?!!

...The Wings can clinch a playoff spot tonight with a win over visiting Hornell, game time is at 7:30. The Wings hold the season series lead against the Dodgers at winning 4 of the 5 contests played this season. The Wings will also be home Thursday as they host Niagara Falls, and Friday against Allegany County. Each game starts at 7:30. Come on out and help the boys in their push to the Championship.
