Power beat Wings in 10th.... Post date July 5th, 2007

...The Red Wings fell to the Niagara Power by a score of 2-1 in ten innings of baseball Tuesday night. The Wings had a promising start, getting their lead off hitter, second baseman Brock Miller (Gardner Webb), on base and around to score on a double by shortstop Nick Spisak (Westchester). Unfortunately, that would be all the runs the Wings would putacross the board for the next nine innings. Ashton Mowdy was the starting pitcher for the Red Wings, and pitched another brilliant game. Mowdy recorded eight innings onthe mound, allowing only one hit and giving up one unearned run in the seventh inning. The run was scored by first baseman Chris Martinez. Martinez reached on an error, advanced on a wild pitch, and then scored on another Red Wings error. The winning run for the Power scored in the bottom of the tenth inning, when Clayton Snodgrass scored on a single by right fielder/pitcher Ryan Jacobi.

Leading the charge offensively for the Red Wings were Spisak, 2-4 with a Hit By Pitch and two singles, and center fielder Chris Vargo (University of Richmond), 2-5 with a bunt for a hit and single. Ashton Mowdy got a no-decision, while the win went to Ryan
Jacobi. Lance Rhodes received the loss.

...The Wings 4th of July Matinee in Hornell was rained out, no make up date has been announced. The Wings are now off for the All-Star break, and will return to the field on Saturday against the Webster Yankees. They return home on Tuesday at 7:30 to face off against divisionleading Allegany County.
