Wings blank 'Bats for fourth straight win (updated)... Post date July 21st, 2007

...The Wings hoping to move up in th playoff standings took on the Brockport Riverbats last night at Big Mac. As has been the case with nearly every start Jason Bowman (Westchester) has had this season, he put together yet another sterling performance on the mound. Bowman pitched 7 full innings as he scattered 5 hits and struck out 6. Bowman has reduced his already miniscual ERA to 1.03 with the seven shutout innings last evening. The Wings got on the board in the second after Chris Parkinson (Rhode Island) singled and stole second, Shawn Summers (Francis Marion) traded places with him on an RBI double. The boys then loaded the bases after Nick Spisek (Westchester) and Brett Burch (Oral Roberts) singled. Summers then scored on a Cory LePlante (Minnesota St) SAC fly, to make the score 2-0. The Wings added two more in the fifth after they again loaded the bases with three singles from Andrew Damewood (Texas @ Tyler), Parkinson, and Brendan Stokes (Northeastern). Summers then scored Damewood on a SAC fly, and then Burch singled to right to score Parkinson. The insurance run scored in the eighth after Spisek doubled with two out, then Brock Miller (Gardner-Webb) followed with a single scoring Spisek The big bat of the night went to Damewood as he went 4-5. The 'Bats were never able to break through the Wings pitching, as Ed Paul (Francis Marion) and Tom Schiller (MCC) pitched one inning each of perfect relief. The Wings never let the 'Bats in the game, and the result, a 5-0 win.

...The Wings travel to Wellsville tonight to take on division leading Allegany County at 7:00. The Nitros have been struggling since the all-star break going 3-8 while the Wings have been red hot winning 8 of their last 10. One thing can be sure with just 3 games seperating the teams it should be a battle. The Wings return home on Sunday to host the Bolivar A's, first pitch is at 5:00. Only 4 regular season games remaining at home, so come on out and cheer the boys on to a Championship!
