Wings lose a wild one in the 'Falls.... Post Date June 28th, 2007

... Quite a wild one last night, the combined line score: 24 runs on 25 hits and 8 errors. The Wings jumped out to an early lead 1-0 in the first, but that was the only lead they would hold through this wild game. The Power jumped out to a 9-2 lead after five, but as usual the Wings were not going to go quitely. The Wings proceeded to score 9 runs in the final 3 innings. In the seventh Andrew Damewood (University of Texas @ Tyler) tripled to center for two RBI's in the four run inning. In the eighth the Power's pitcher could not find the strike zone as he wakled in two runs and hit two batsmen. In the ninth it looked like it might just be fate for the Wings to comeback yet again. Down 13-7 going into the final frame, the Wings put together three hits to score a run on an error, then with two outs and two on Chris Vargo (University of Richmond) deposited the first pitch from the Power relief pitcher over the right field wall, for a three run home run. Damewood then doubled to center, setting up the drama putting the tying run at the plate in the form of NYCBL homerun leader, Julio Gomez (Coker College). Unfortunately for the Wings it was not in the cards, as Gomez popped up in the infield to end the game, but they battled right to the end!

...The Wings return home for a three day homestand starting tonight, Happiness House night, as they take on division leading Alegany County. Tonight is also Little League night, free admissionfor Little Leaguers in uniform. Plus, get $1 draft beer and $1 hot dogs all night! The Wings are also home on Friday facing the Bolivar A's and Saturday against the Elmira Pioneers, all games start at 7:30. Come on out to the park and support your Wings!
