Wings take one from struggling A's... Post Date June 29th, 2007

...Despite Bolivar's 1-17 record coming into last evenings game, the Wings were not underestimating them, they have been a dangerous team. Out of their 17 losses they have 12 of those losses by 2 runs or less, so the Wings were aware they would need to play solid baseball in order to win. The Wings were able to break out in a scoreless game in the sixth inning. Chad Dalieden (University of Texas @ Tyler) broke out of a hitting slump going 2-3 on the night and picked up two RBI's in the sixth. The Wings would add one run each in the seventh and eighth. However, the A's would not go quietly, as they scored one in the eighth off starting pitcher Jason Bowman (Westchester) who went 8 2/3 innings stiking out 5 walking 2 and allowing one earned run. Bowman would allow a couple of hits in the ninth and his earned run before Ashton Mowdy (E Oklahoma) came in to close the door with the tying run at the plate, it was Mowdy's first save of the season. League save leader Kyle Bellamy (Miami) was unavailable in the pen due to a minor injuries obtained in a fender bender earlier in the day. He will remain sidelined for a few days.

... The Wings face off tonight against the Pioneers of Elmira, game time is 7:30PM. Come on out and help the boys win another one! The Wings will also be home on Monday against the same Pioneers. It is the last home game before the All-Star break. The All-Star game will be played at 7:30 Friday July 6th in Amsterdam NY. The game can be heard live on Teamline. The Wings representatives will be posted tomorrow with the game update...be sure to check back!
