Wings tie it in the ninth, lose in 10... Post Date June 29th, 2007

...The Wings faced off last evening against division leading Alegany County. The Nitros jumped up 4-0 early scoring two unearned runs on three Wing errors. But as usual the Wings shored up the defense and started to chip away at the lead in the fifth scoring one run on a suicide squeeze, but ten left the bases loaded. In the sixth the Wings made the score 4-2 on a passed ball , but gain leaving two in scoring position. The score remained 4-2 until the bottom of the ninth. In the ninth Brock Miller drew a one out walk, and then proceeded to take two bases on a passed ball putting him on third base. Andrew Damewood then singled putting me on first and third with one out. Following a pitching change, a wild pitch scored Miller, and advanced Ryan Hypke who pinch ran for Damewood to second. The hit of the night came off Brendan Stokes bat, a hit which seems to win the game. The line drive was hit very hard but not quite high enough as it bounced off the 380 sign in left center, scoring Hypke. The Wings left the ninth feeling pretty good with the score tied, however, Lance Rhodes would surrender a lead off home run to return the lead to the Nitros. The Nitros would then add one more run to finish the scoring at 6-4.

...The Wings are home tonight as they host the Bolvar A's, and remain home on Saturday as they host the Elmira Pioneers. Game times are both at 7:30. Come on out to the park an enjoy a game!
