AIA's 4 run 2nd inning is Wings undoing....Posted June 15th, 2008
The Wings gave up 4 runs in the 2nd last night, which ultimately proved to be enough to put the boys away for good. The Wings left the top of the first with what has become a customary early lead. Doug Elliot (UConn) doubled with two outs n the first, moved over to third on a base hit by Eddy Mendiola (Notre Dame), and scored on a double steal. That lead would be short lived as the AIA's would score four in the bottom of the second off Aaron Greenblatt (Northeastern). Greenblatt would be a tale of two pitchers on the night. After allowing the 4 runs he would strike out 8 but allow 10 hits. The Wings would draw within two with one run in the ninth, but would leave the tying run at the plate.
The Wings spend one more day on the road before rturning to McDonough Park on Tuesday. The boys will spend Fathers Day evening in Hornell taking on the Dodgers in a 7PM start. The broadcast can agian be heard live on TeamLine.
