Ashton Mowdy (GRW '07) drafted by the Houston Astros...Posted June 6th, 2008

Ashton Mowdy, starting pitcher for the 2007 Geneva Red Wings has been drafted in the 19th round as the 572nd overall pick. Ashton was an integral part of the starting rotation for the 2007 Wings as he went 6-0 on the year with a 1.46 ERA, and opposing batters hit just .151 against him. He finished the season second in the league with 54 strikeouts in 46.1 IP. In recognition of his fine season with the Wings, Ashton was named to the All-NYCBL post-season 1st team.

Mowdy posted an impressive 5-3 record this srpring with the Eastern Oklahoma State Mountaineers, he also fanned 79 in 76.1 innings, as the Mountaineers posted a school record 41 wins. Eastern Oklahoma's record settled out at 41-18 and they finished ranked #15 in the NJCAA.
