Wings work out the bugs in exhibition vs Rome...Posted June 5th, 2008
The Wings hosted the Rome Thunderbolts of the ECBL last evening at McDonough park as tune up for both teams seasons. The game marked the first time the players had an opportunity to play together outside of the practice field. Although the Wings dropped the game 7-4 there were many bright spots. The coaches were looking to see if the players could make both physical and mental in-game game adjustments and saw both from every player on the team. Even though the boys fell behind 3-0 after 1 inning they battled back to keep the game close and eventually to pull within 3. Since this was a exhibition most f the pitching staff were involoved in the result. Seven pitches combined for 13 strikeouts on the night, and allowed only 3 earned runs. At the plate Chris Altieri (Florida International) drove in the first run of the game and went 2-4. Doug Elliot (University of Connecticutt) added two singles to the line score with his 2-2 performance.
