4 Wings Head to All-Star Monday... Posted July 6th, 2008

Three Red Wings have been named to the NYCBL Western Division All-Star Team while another will represent The Wings in the Home Ru Derby. The game, to be played at 7:00 tomorrow night in Watertown will be broadcast live on TWSC all accross New York State.

The three players named to the All-Star team are:

Eddy Mendiola (Notre Dame): Eddy has played in all 19 games this season anchoring either corner of the infield either at first or third. He has been batting a solid .308 with a .415 slugging percentage, and 6-9 in stolen base attempts.

Doug Elliot (University of Connecticut): Doug has also played in every game this season either as catcher, first base, or DH. His .315 batting average is third on the team and is 4-4 in stolen base attempts. He has also been solid with the glove making only 5 errors in 156 chances (.969).

Kyle Eastham (South Florida): Kyle has been a long/middle reliever for the Wings this season starting one game and appearing in five. He owns a 0.00 ERA in 15.0 innings pitched. He has fanned 16 in his time worked and opposing batters are hitting just .181 against him. Kyle has also had 4 plate apperances in which he is 2-4 with 3 RBI's

The Wings Home Run Derby representative is Matt Perry (Holy Cross). Matt is currently one of the Wings hottest hitters batting a team high .415 and owns a .508 slugging percentage with 6 doubles and a team high 16 RBI's. He has been tearing the cover off the ball lately going 10-18 with 7 RBI over the past 4 games.
