Dodgers drop Wings on a see-saw night....Posted June 30th, 2008

The Wings traveled to Hornell last evening to take on the division leading Dodgers. The Wings would take an earky lead going up 2-0 after 2 inings of play, but the Dodgers would answer back with 3 in the third. The Wings and Dodgers would play a game of see-saw all night as the Wings would take the lead again scoring 4 runs in the fifth only to relinquich the lead in the end losing 8-6. Five errors and thirteen men left on base would not help the boys in black much either.

Charly Bashara (Northeatern) would make his first start of the season, and would allow 3 earned runs in 3 1/3 innings. Steve Forster (St John's) woud come in for 3 2/3 innings of relief, allow 2 earned runs but strike out 7 and take the hard luck loss. The batters hit the ball all over the place again last evening pounding out 12 hits and drawing 8 walks, but had a hard time getting those runners accross the plate. Kevin McGrath (Westchester) went 3-4 on the night with 2 doubles. Matt Perry (Holy Cross), Bill Cupello (Holy Cross), Jimmy Vahalik (Toledo), and Eddy Mendiola (Notre Dame) would each add two hits a piece.

The Wings are off today and will travel to Elmira for a home/home series against the Pioneers on Tuesday and Wednesday. The Tuesday away game starts at 7:00 and the Wednesday home game at McDonough Park starts at 7:30.
