Early runs get better of Wings..... Posted June 28th, 2008

Early runs again put the Wings in a deficit on Friday night but one thing can be certain there is no quit in the Wings. Starting pitcher Dan Rouah (Lynn) struggled early giving up 6 runs on 8 hits. The relief duo of Tim Crabbe (Westmont) and Pete Lompado (Minnesota) combined for the last 4 1/3 innings each allowing just one hit a piece while striking out four a piece. The relievers kept the wings in the game, however the bats never really came alive as the Nitro pitchers held the Wings to six hits on the night. That didn't mean that the Wings folded. After goigng down 6-0 the wings would draw closer in the sixth after Ryan Uphouse (Geroge Mason) would single, steal second, then eventually be driven in on a sacrifice fly by Doug Elliot (UConn). The Wings would add a second in the ninth as Eddy Mendiola (Notre Dame) would hit a one out screamer downt he right field line for a double, steal third, then would be driven in on a base hit by Jimmy Vahalik (Toledo). The boys however, could draw no closer and would drop another 6-2.

The Wings will again be home tonight hosting the Power of Niagara Falls. Game time is 7:30, come on out early and meet the team!
