Wings battle for nine beat 'Bats.... Posted July 9th, 2008

The Wings fresh off the All-Star break are ready to make a run for the playoffs. In their way tonight were the second place Riverbats. The 'Bats sent All-Star starting pitcher AJ Sapporito to the mound to face the Wings, however Dan Rouah (Lynn), the Wings starting pitcher, looked like the All-Star on the night. Rouah went 7 strong innings scattering 5 hits and striking out 5. Aaron Brett (SE Missouri St) would hold the game in the eighth allowing no hits, then Jason Koziol (George Mason) would close the game and earn the save striking out two of Brockport batters in the ninth. Although the game seemed tight throughout, the Wings would out hit the 'Bats 15-5 including a 4-4 night for rightfielder Ryan Uphouse (George Mason), and a 3-4 night for DH Doug Elliot (UConn). Every Wing starter would get at least one hit off the 'Bats battery and the Wings would walk away with a 3-2 win to pick up some ground in the playoff race.

Tomorrow, Thursday July 10th the Wings will host the Webster Yankkes at McDonough Park. The Wings will first complete the June 18th game which was suspended in the 4th sarting at 5:30, and the second normally scheduled game will start immediately following the completion of the suspended game, which is expected to begin around 7:30. Thursday's are always $1 night where hot dogs and beer are only $1.00 all night long. Come on out for a "doubleheader" and a great deal!
