Wings blank 'Bats run up four straight....Posted June 23rd, 2008

Fifteen! Thats the number of doubles the Wings have hit over he past two games. Yesterday afternoon the Wings pounded out 14 more hits, 7 of which were doubles en route to a 9-0 thrashing of the Riverbats. Ryan Uphouse (George Mason), with two doubles yesterday afternoon, has hit 5 doubles in the past two games, and has hit at least one double in four consecutive games. Doug Elliot (UConn) and Kevin McGrath (Westchester) also added a two-bagger each in their 2-4 outings, as they both continue their hot hitting. Chris Altieri (FIU) also added two hits on a 2-4 day, with a stolen base. The Wings collectively swiped 4 bases on the day and really took the game to the Bats. Kyle Eastham (South Florida) pitched a solid 5 innings striking out 5 and scattering 4 hits. He was picked up by a group of four relivers, Tim Crabbe (Westmont), Charly Bashara (Northeastern), Jason Koziol (George Mason) and Aaron Brett (Central Missouri) each pitched shutout baseball combining for 2 hits and 5 strikeouts. The bullpen did it's job to preserve the shutout and the win, as the Wings blanked the bats 9-0.

The Wings have a well deserved off day today, but plan to keep hitting tomorrow, Tuesday, as they host Niagara Falls at 7:30 in McDonough Park. Tuesday's are always Little League days at the ball park. Every Tuesday this season Liitle leaguers wearing their jersey get in free. Also, all kids are welcome to come out to the right field grass between 7:00-7:15 to play catch. Grab your favorite Wing and a glove and come out early for Little League night!
