Wings jump all over AIA's, win two in a row... Posted June 21st, 2008
After a few days of rain and bad weather which seemed to put the team in a daze, the Wings again exploded offensively for the second straight day. Kevin McGrath (Westchester), as they say in baseball circles, had a day. McGrath went 3-4 on the night with a two run home run in the fifth breaking the game wide open. McGrath is swinging a hot bat lately batting going 5-8 with 4 RBI's over the last two games batting out of the eighth slot. Matt "Chandler" Perry (Holy Cross) also added three hits and two RBI's on the night. The Wings found themselves in a good position going into the ninth up 11-2 on an outstanding pitching performance by Aaron Greenblatt (Northeastern), in which he scattered 6 hits over 7 innings. Tim Crabbe (Westmont) came in for one perect inning of relief before the AIA's would take advantage of some Wings pitching and fielding mistakes and make it a game scoring 5 runs in the ninth. Bolivar would load the bases and put the tying run at the plate. Jason Koziol (George Mason) was able to get the last batter to ground out to third ending the threat and preserving the 11-7 win.
The Wings travel to Allegany County today for a 7:00 tip off. The Wings will then travel to Brockport tomorrow for a 5:00 first pitch before returning home for Little League night where all Little Leaguers with their uniform shirt get in free on Tuesday against Niagara Falls, first pitch 7:30. A trip to the ballpark, what a great way to celebrate the last day of school!
