Wings on a roll win in front of 1,100....Posted July 19th, 2008
In front of the biggest crowd of the season, and on State Senator Mike Nozolio night at Big Mac, the Wings beat the AIA's 7-2 behind masterful pitching by Steve Forster (St. John's). Following a pre-game ceremony which saw Mike Nozolio handing the City of Geneva a check for $15,000 for improvements to the park Forster would then mow down AIA hitters for seven innings. In seven, Forster would allow5 hits, one earned run, and would strike out a season best ten batters. Forster would earn the victory with his solid performance. The Wings batters again pounded out double digit hits on the night. Leading the team was Nick Spears (Texas Pan Am) who would go 4-4 on the night with two runs scored. Eddy Mendiola (Notre Dame) would add a 2-5 night and 3 RBI . Bolivar got on the board first in the top of the first going up 1-0. The lead would be short lived as the Wings would grab the lead in the bottom of the second 2-1 and would never look back. The Wings move to within a half game of third place Allegany County with the win, and strtech their lead in front of fifth place Webster to 3.5 games, further padding their playoff lead.
The Wings are home tonight against aforementioned Webster and hope to extend their playoff padding as well as move up on the division leaders. Tonight is State Assemblyman Kolb night at Big Mac, first pitch is 7:30. Come on out and help the boys push to the playoffs in the last weeks of the season.
