The roster and schedule have been set for the up coming season. I will post both as soon as I have them in my hands. I spoke with Manager Dave Herbst earlier in the week, and I have some excitng news to report.
Cosmetic changes are being planned to the concourse and seating areas , including new first and third base bleachers, and a "party pavilion" down the first base line. The bleachers were in dire need of replacement for some time, and it looks like those may be shiny new this season. Other unspecified changes are also planned for the old ballpark. A new weight room is also expected to be completed for the 2005 season. The weight room is going to take the space of the old Geneva Cubs Visiting clubhouse. If we can get the stadium to look as nice as the field we will be in great shape!
On June 8th, 2005 the Geneva Red Wings will be playing an exhibition game in Cooperstown, NY. The team will travel to Cooperstown early in the day to visit the Baseball Hall of Fame, then later in the day the team will be playing an exhibition on famed Doubleday Field. Doubleday field plays host to a Major League exhibition game every seson during the Hall of Fame Induction Weekend. Many former Legends have played on this field including Babe Ruth, Lou Gerhig, and Dizzy Dean. This exhibition is a unique experience for our team. If you can, come on down with us, this is an outstanding opportunity for our fans, and our team!
