Wings take advantage of Wizard's miscues but fall to 1-2.... June 14th, 2006

The Wings started off quickly with four runs in the first three innings capitalizing on two hit batters and some miscues by the Wizards. The lead would hold until the fifth when the Wizards would rally and tie the game with 4 in the bottom of the fifth. They would add one more in the sixth and the Wings promptly answered with their own in the top of the seventh. In the end the Wizards persevered through five errors to plate two in the bottom half of the eighth. The wizards closed out the ninth with some fine fielding plays, ending the game for the Wings and holding on for a 7-5 victory.

The Wings return home tomorrow to host the Saratoga Phillies. First pitch at 7:30PM. Come on out to the park or catch the game on TeamLine, live!

Wings win home opener .... June 11th, 2006

Following a disappointing few days which the Wings had their home opener washed out, and lost on the road Saturday, the boys worked a walk-off-win on Sunday 2-1 while hosting Rochester. The Wings transplanted opener went down to the wire, with both runs crossing the plate on wild pitches. The first wild pitch in the seventh inning tied the game then the second in the bottom of the ninth came with two out on a 2-2 pitch to win the game, walk-off style! Jeremy Khurt (Southern Indiana) pitched a superb game for 7 innings, unfortunately his effort was only rewarded with a no decision once the Wings were only able to tie the game in the bottom of the seventh. Colin Sloand (Lehigh University) held the game in the eighth, and Aaron Greenblatt (Northeastern) benefited from the walk-off, getting his first win of the season working out of a one-out-jam in the ninth.

The Wings have a day off on Monday and will work out for MLB scouts on Tuesday. They head back to the field on Wednesday with a night game at Watertown, which can be heard live on TeamLine at 7PM. The next home game is scheduled for the Wings to host the Saratoga Phillies Thursday night at 7:30PM.

Construction Full Swing At The Park.....

The new spring construction has begun on McDonough Park. The support posts have been secured for both the new 1st and 3rd base party decks, some of the new pavement has been laid (the entire concourse will be repaved before opening day!), and the diamond is in it's spring splendor! With all these improvements, the park is sure to be looking better than it has in years. The 3rd base deck will be fully accessible by wheelchair, and the 1st base deck will compliment last year's pavilion addition. The new asphalt in the concourse will be the finishing touch to bring it all together and give the old park a shiny new look. Come on out and check it out opening day!

Webpage Changes Coming Soon.....
