Wings can't hold early lead, lose to Riverbats ... Post Date June 17th, 2007

...The Wings were able to start the night off in a positive note last night going up 2-0 after 4 innings. In the third Nick Spisek (Westchester) started the scoring with a solo shot to rght field, putting the Wings up 1-0. In the fourth Shawn Summers (Francis Marion) scored Ryan Hypke (Francis Marion) on an RBI double. The Wings would then surrender the lead in the top of the fifith when a series of very unfortunate events occurred. With two outs in the fifth a myriad of hits, errors, walks and hit batsmen lead to 3 runs, only one of which was earned. Brockport added a single run in the sixth making the score 4-2. In the bottom of the seventh Andrew Damewood (University of Texas @ Tyler) added a solo shot to right field, his second round tripper of the season. That would be the closest the Wings would get, despite leaving four runners on base in the final two frames. The 'Bats would add a run in the top of the ninth to finish off the scoring, a final of 5-3 for the bad guys.

...The Wings have a much needed day off today, and will host the same Riverbats on Monday evening at McDonough Park a 7:30PM first pitch.
